Soft error

Post by TomBombadil711 »

I tried to continue my PBEM++ game vs cbelva but when I chose the game an error message occured:

"Soft error loading Player object from save file"

After clicking OK another one popped up:

"Error reading Depot object to the save file"

followed by an access violation error.

Tom, any chance you could post the PBEM file? It will be a bunch of numbers in the saved folder I believe. That and your report should help to narrow down where the error is.

Thanks for the report.

Tom, how many turns did you get through before it crashed.?
We will be focusing on the PBEM remaining issues for the 2.03 update.

It's turn 10 in the game vs Rosseau, turn 4 in the other games.

Do either of you use direct support with arty units? Do you have reinforcements coming in on the turn? Trying to find a common action that trips this bug. The fact that it is not every turn points to a certain set of conditions.

No reinforcements as Soviets, but I had a couple of batteries stay on direct support prior to contact for several turns. The other two I fired manually. I recall remanding those direct support orders in my last turn, as were not sure of their effectiveness.

rosseau, thanks for the information. Charles and I hit a non-repeatable bug with direct support arty last night where it would throw an error if the DS unit got killed in between the arty units shooting a barrage and then going back to DS orders profile. We plan to address this in 2.02.

That's good. However, I know for sure none of my DS units were eliminated. The battle was just about to get interesting when Tom had the crash [:(]

We are sorry about the bug. After 2.02 is out we will be focused on getting all of the remaining PBEM issues ironed out.

We need to identify where the disconnect happening in the PBEM++ games. As soon as 202 is out, I plan on issuing several challenges and I would like you guys to accept and we will see if we can track these bugs down and get them irradiated. I want to wait until 202 is out so that we are playing with the same build and maybe some of our changes may have squashed some of them already.

The plan was to send it to Matrix Sunday night if all was good on our end. That was before Mad Russian got sick. We will need to reevaluate the release to Matrix based on the delay. Best we can do is keep you posted.

I would be happy to cooperate. Also, I believe Tom and I had earlier crashes with file transfer pbem, too.

Hope MR has nothing serious.
