If the resource is beer then just send it to me ... I'll help consume it [:D]

Shortest is 5 sea zones to a port in Mexico. Then ship by rail to Canada, allowing all Canadian resources to go the 3 sea zones to the UK. Stay as far south as possible without exceeding 5 sea zones. Separate the 2 CPs off the eastern coast of Australia as they are the same distance in sea zones, but the northern one has the choice of picking up either an Australian resource or the French one in New Caledonia. That one can be shipped to France with CPs via Panama and then through the Caribbean and onward. For the first two turns the CW needs one less resource because of the round-up of their 0.5 production multiplier. So the CPs between the Caribbean and the Bay of Biscay can deliver the New Caledonia resource to France instead of one to the CW.

I like to use 6 French CPs in this chain (and 2 more somewhere within range) and then RTB them all to New Caledonia just before Vichy is declared as they'll most likely stay Allied then. Losing a few resources for a turn is worth 8 more CPs.

Ok, that's what I thought, but I can't figure out the interface in order to get the resources to go through the US and Canada. I must be missing something. Time to go watch some more of those tutorials.

I just resorted to using the Panama Canal and some extra CPs, which will suck if the Axis sink enough shipping to make me short.

Ah, you might be falling afoul of some of the rules for shipping resources.

Basically, a resource can be shipped by sea once.

So you can ship resources overseas from Australia to Mexico, to be railed to Canada, or you can ship them overseas from Australia to the UK, but you are unable to ship resources from Australia to Mexico, rail them to Canada, and then ship them overseas again to the UK.

This gets covered in the rules booklet (RAC), section 13.6.something or other, as I recall.

Hope that helps!

(Also, I would say overall that shipping Australian resources to the UK is very inefficient unless you are playing with the "Food in Flames" optional rule, which gives the Commonwealth bonus production for doing so. The better option is to ship Australian resources to Canada such that they are processed in Canadian factories, and ship freed-up Canadian resources to the UK.)

Production management for the CW is about the hardest thing to get to grips with in the game. It was subject of many an angst-ridden post during testing. My advice is don't sweat it too much for now, just accept that you will waste the odd resource, CW rarely gets all their resources home anyway. :-)
