Rules as Coded vs. Rules as Written in WiFFE

Post by Leegb1 »

What are the significant differences between the Rules as Coded and the Rules as Written for World in Flames Final edition? I'm assuming the coding makes some interpretations to the written rules, so that it can be effectively coded for the program? Please clarify...

Here are some of them. There are more, but not a lot more. Reading through these should give you the flavor of the differences.

Follow up question - what should a newbie read first to learn the game. I'm not talking about the tutorials, just the rulebooks.

Should I read volumes 1 and 2, or the rules as coded first?

I'd read volume 1 first, as it mixes rules with strategy advice. I didn't really understand the Ground Strike rules, for example, until I read the explanation in volume 1.

That said, I think you'll learn faster if you fire up a solitaire "Barbarossa" and consult all 3 volumes on an as-needed basis.

I think of the difference of Rules as Coded and the Rules as Written for World in Flames as a whole new world from the manuals. Have you played as a board game, then Rules as Coded makes sense. Otherwise, ignore.
