Question on Canary's Cage scenario

Post by CV32 »

Great scenario, especially if I can figure out how to finish it.

I've put my amphibious task force between Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and undocked all of my landing craft and put them into the marked LZ off the coast of Santa Cruz. Is this the correct spot? (There are some other ref points there). Do they have to be there for a certain period of time to trigger victory conditions?

I'm playing Canary Cage right now (for the umpteeth time and will continue to do so until I win!) but I'm curious how you handled negating the two air bases at the canaries? I was thinking of having Grupo Alfa come in and blast them with gunfire but I'll bet there's going to be some nasty little surprise as soon as I get there!

I hit the SAMs on the island with F18s but ither than that the A/C posed no trouble. Think my forward CAP screen that went with Alfa took out most of the a/c from the airbases.

Yes, they need to be there for some hours.

It took some doing, but basically I kept up a running BARCAP with AMRAAM armed Harriers and Hornets to stave off enemy air patrols until it withered away. Until then, I did not undertake any strikes on land targets excepting a couple of anti-radar raids that pulled double duty as offensive anti-air missions. Once the enemy air in the Canaries dies off, you pretty much have full reign of the air in the whole area.

Thank you. I think I only have about six hours remaining, so hopefully that's enough. Just the landing craft need to be in the zone?
