2. Plans. I plan to establish form a defence line along the river with one corps and keep divisions of the second corps in reserve. Artillery regiments are moved forward into firing positions.

Initial orders.
3. Day 1 of the battle.

First contact with enemy units is made at 10:10.

At 11:00 the artillery regiments are on firing positions. They are ordered to fire interdiction missions against spotted enemy units in order to give my two line corps time to deploy and dig in.

After routing the closest enemy company with high rate of fire barrage, one of army artillery regiments is assigned to fire at enemy units crossing fortification lines on road from Leidenoom to Lutzkampen. This point seems to be one of the favoured routes of the enemy and becomes a target of constant slow interdiction fire by one of army artillery regiments.
Corps artillery regiments fire against spotted units in other places.

My infantry south of Lieler becomes a target of enemy artillery fires. They aren't very strong but last for hours.
Meanwhile, road near Sevenig - another favoured enemy route becomes another target of constant interdiction fires, usually fired by one of my corps artillery regiments.
Sporadic one company enemy incursions on my side of the river get beaten off with high rate of fire barrages by one of corps artillery regiments.
At 20:55 one of enemy battalions is routed near Sevenig.

At 22:29 I became aware that the northern division of the first line corps will not manage to secure the shore before going to rest. I order two artillery regiments to move back as they are too far forward.

Situation at the end of day 1.
Any comments?
