Problems with the different windows

Post by cdebasso »

My experience after a few days playing solitaire is that I have a lot of trouble managing all the different windows. In particular, it is not easy at all to understand which ones come on top of which ones. The global map does NOT always stay on top even if the relevant option is checked. Most annoying, essential forms do not always appear on top of everything else. It would be nice to have somewhere a list of the open windows with a possibility to move to the front the one that is needed, without having to resize the others to find it. I tried to find this under the menu item "window" in the main form - that would seem to be the natural place for this. I also think the main form needs to be always on top at any time - why isn't there an option for this? It seems more necessary than having the global map always on top.
A particular problem seems to be caused by my switching between a one-screen and a two-screen configuration. I saved two layouts for the two configurations. Last time I saved the game while being on two screens with the "choose action" form open. I then restored the saved game with just one monitor, and the "choose action" form is nowhere to be seen, even if I close all the other windows. As a consequence the game is stuck, because I have no alternative way to choose the action and move to the next phase.

Slightly different gripe from me, but related - in my two monitor setup, all other saved windows behave perfectly except the hated MV window. It's the little guy which holds map saves, which ALWAYS wants to pop onto the main map, every time you cycle. Honestly, it's the only part of the game so far that ticks me off, since it's so consistent, and yet the little window is never used. [:(]

I think if you put it where you want it for each major power, then Redefine Screen Layout for each major power, then this problem will go away.

Were you able to try loading the single monitor Screen Layout?
