CLiF oil

Post by Courtenay »

RAC 22.4.6 says: "..., if playing with oil (see 13.5.1), CAs and CLs only count as a quarter of a unit during final reorganization." However, using CLiF, when I move a single cruiser, my oil needed figure increases by 0.1, not 0.05. Also, ships (except for convoys), including CAs and CLs, are described as needing 0.1 oil.

I have not, actually, checked that that much oil is actually used, but I think that it is. If so, there is a major problem with using CLiF. If the correct amount of oil is used, there is less of a problem, but there still is a problem.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

If this is a bug, it is easy to fix. But I'll let the WIF rules lawyers argue the case pro and con. The convoys are .05 oil, so the code already supports that fine a denomination.

Lawyer quotes RAW:

SiF option 9: Each naval unit (CVPiF/SiF option 56: or carrier
plane) you turn face-up counts as half a unit and each convoy point
counts as a quarter of a unit.
CLiF option 75: Each CA or CL you turn face-up counts as a
quarter of a unit.

It's a bug... When the optional rule cruisers in flames is on, oil reorganisation of cruisers is wrong in MWIF at this moment. If it is off, everything is in good order...

Okay. I'll make the change. It will only take a few minutes.

EDIT: At the same time I fixed another bug that had auxiliary cruisers using oil.[8|]

EDIT #2: Here's the code. It affects all the places where oil to reorganize naval units is calculated.

function TNavalUnit.OilNeeded: Currency;
begin
if UnitType = utConvoy then Result := Convoy * 0.05
else if UnitType = utLightCruiser then Result := 0.05
else if UnitType = utAuxiliaryCruiser then Result := 0.0
else if (UnitType = utCruiser) and OptRules.CruisersInFlames then Result := 0.05
else Result := 0.1;
end;

Why are aux. cruisers not supposed to use oil?
