Resources Australia-Canada, Canada-US

Post by Courtenay »

Has anyone managed to get the "Ship Australian resource to Canadian factory, ship Canadian resource to British factory" scheme to work? When I try, the computer insists on shipping Canadian resources to Canadian factories, no matter how I set defaults and overrides. I finally got traded saved oil to work (override, not default), but this defeats me.

I thought I knew how to play this game....

Question was about how to tell MWiF to actually do it. If I read that right.

I have not succeeded in implementing that particular routing as well. There are several other problematic constellations. I think Steve is aware of the issue and will tackle it eventually.

Those are all overrides. You will have to micro it every turn. That is ok, but it would be nice if the "default" (blue) settings behave this way. So that "override" (green) settings could be used to micro per turn routing without destroying the underlying defaults.

Try this I was trying to get familiar with the supply and convoy part of the game. Set the default setting for all resources in Canada to "idle" and any other resources which may ship via convoys to Canada set also to idle. Then set up a path to ship the Aussie resource to Canada. Then allocate the resource by default setting to one of your factories in Canada. Then bring back online 1 resource in Canada for the other factory. Then allocate the other 2 resources to a factory in the UK. Even when you set it up with default settings the Program may drop the Aussie resource if another resource is available. It shouldnt drop the Aussie resource if there are no surplus resources that could reach Canada however if it does the default setting would kick in when that surplus resource is no longer going to Canada so it should pick up the Aussie resource again.
It might not work either [:)]
Just been trying trial and error.

No they aren´t overrides ( in Blue)[:-] they are Default (in green)[;)] . I have no problem ( no micromanagement at all) with them until weather change in NT zone to Snow or Blizzard , and that issue is caused by canadian "by default" port used for shipping resources to UK ( Quebec), which freezes and then ( and only then) all the lines change to computed ( in black) deoptimizing resource/convoys use.

Ok interesting. Just checked and green->default and blue->override. So it works with the northern route to UK, but not when a particular port freezes?

Yes , It works , but until game engine doesn´t change Quebec as "by default port" from canadian resources every snow or blizzard weather in North Temperatewill deoptimazing your convoy lanes. I suggested to Steeve he changes "by default port" to Hallifax instead of Quebec, and then that problem will be fixed ( I hope so ) .
