Announcing the arrival of.....
Hows it goin people, nice weather outside isnt it.
Let me introduce myself. I am Ronarius, and I intend to post here fairly often as I have just discovered the wonderful game 'Titans of Steel' merely a few weeks ago. What a tremendous game it is, I just cant stop playing.
Here is some information about yours truly:
I was born in a cold november morning during the winter of 1980 in the city of Belfast, which is the capital of Northern Ireland, for those of you not from the UK. I went to school, met some friends, kissed some girls, then got interested in RPGs. Dungeons and Dragons to start with, then many others. After a few years I was introduced to Battle Tech, and oh what a joy it was. To this day, I have never played a better game!
The problem is, is that there arent many Battle Tech players in Ireland. The only ones I know are me and two of my friends. When one of my friends took himself off to university in Scotland last year, I kinda lost contact with the other friend and ended up with no one to play Battle Tech with. Thats when I turned to my computer to solve my dilemma.
There is a severe lack of commercial Battle Tech games which are direct translation of the board game. Mech Warrior is fine, but it just isnt the same and any freeware Battle Tech conversions I have found have been useless. I almost gave up hope until two weeks ago when I discovered Titans of Steel. It aint exactly Battle Tech, but I certainly do enjoy it!
So...... It would be nice if any other regular posters here would introduce themselves, if you havnt fainted with boredom from my life story, just so that I have some sort of idea who im talking to here.
And when I have practiced a bit more and my team are up to scratch, then I look forward to having a bit of a scuffle with youse on the battle field. Until then, remember, keep flammable liquids out of reach of children.

Hi, I'm Hetzer (drools into gruel) a poor, pathetic, doddering old man that the rest of you youngsters keep around to torment (woeful tone of voice). Since you probably want to beat someone up too I can be reached on ICQ at 143948813 (oh, great.....yet another bloodthirsty puppy).
Hey! PC, Tarendiddler, Lyhrrus...Rosary........Anybody?...........I......Uh..........could use a little help here (long pause filled with muffled giggling). Alright! I know you're out there you bunch of lurking wusses (much longer pause filled with outright laughter). Be That Way! See If I Care!
(limps slowly out to porch, sits gently down in rocking chair, looks with quiet pride at his cottage constructed entirely out of the heads of assault titans, lights his pipe and watches the snow gently cover the remains of his last vict### Brutal and Callous Attackers).
ps: (thanks PC)

rpg'er since many years back, and game'd the original mechforce(wich ToS is based on) on the commodore amiga(had both a A500, and a A1200)....**** those where the days.
not played so much tos as a should, but i cant really work myself into the battle frenzy needed for a good gamin experience...ah well....icq UIN# 73966414 incase anyone is interested....and i hang around in IRCnet(#anime and some others.)....i think that covers most of it, gnite.

As long as we're doing this...
...and I really can't see anything wrong with it
...I thought I'd get in on it.
Back in on it at least, since I, after an overly long hiatus, am back. Not that anyone is likely to remember me. Though I do remember Hetzer, PC, Rosary, and alot of other people who don't seem to have made it over from the old forum....actually, having thought it over, I don't think I remember that many more people, which really defeats the entire purpose of this rambling, which I seem to be doing quite well. Quick! End the paragraph! Do it!
ICQ # is 54042660 if anyone wants to take on probably the worst of the old-forumers.
Lobsteve
PS: I'm back, baby! Yeah!

I remember LobSteve!!
I feel old.
I remember when hetzer first started playing ToS.
I feel really old.
I remember playing ToS 1.1.
I remember playtesting ToS 1.4 before it was released.
And I remember Larkin saying I'd get a free copy of WS. Because I'm the kewlest. Or some stupid garbage.
I remember Iceman when he was a pain in the ***. Oh yeh, still is
J/K
I have had extremely limited access for the past year.
Will fix that hopefully in the next 6 months. Finally settling in.
Later.
I rule.
p.s. hetz: thanx 4 what?

I guess I am sort of a veteran, though I haven't been around as long as PC or Hetz. I got hooked on ToS something like a year or two ago, but it's been months and months since I've been able to play online. Soon, though, I hope to be back and blasting. For tips on my style, ask Hetz - we've spent many hours killing each other.
We sometimes catch a window
A glimpse of what's beyond
Was it just imagination
Stringing us along?
More things than are dreamed about
Unseen and unexplained
We suspend our disbelief
And we are entertained

Cheers guys, you really made me feel at home. If any one else feels the burning desire to introduce themselves, please feel free.
Im on my way to work now but I just gotta say that as soon as I build my team up a bit, I will battle the lot of use. I think I will wait till I get broad band in first though, which should be by the end of next month.
I take it you guys do use your own teams for challenges and not tournament teams?

Duels tend to be the network equivalent of "hotseat" games. The most common convention is to set both pilots to elite (level 6). This means that they will be decent but a luck factor will exist that won't be there if you chose champions. One of the reasons you can check the other team out after a game is to make sure that the host didn't cheat and set his jocks higher than yours
Another way to go is for two people to agree to build experience teams and start both teams out against two AI teams set two levels higher (expect some losses). I have done this with a couple of people and it makes for great games because we're playing together against a common foe rather than trying to murder each other (not, of course, that I.... would go there). If you'd like to try something like that get ahold of me and I'll see if I can help you develop as a pilot/tactician.

Okay, I'm new here.
I'm from Finland (a cold, dark place near Sweden and Russia, we are the ones where Nokia cellphones originally come from).
I think I was born on a chilly day in April. Or then it just rained. Well anyways, been playing for a long long time.
Then finally decided to come here and brag about my great victories, my awesome mech, err titans and blaah blaah....
Weeellll... I haven't played the game against a living opponent (not gonna try network with my connections and none of my friends plays this - those lame asses are too lazy to learn this -) so the AI has been my enemy always.
Unfortunately I missed the version where the map editor worked and so I didn't have time to plan my own maps...would have loved to battle in some of my thinked arenas and mazes...
Cannons good, energy bad, missiles useless...that pretty much tells my fighting style.
I think you'll hear from me more afterwards...like when it's not 4 AM here like it's now. So if you all excuse me, I'll go to bed now.

Well, as long as everyone else is introducing themselves...
...I'll (finally) do so as well. My name is Narf (relax, it's just a nickname) and I was born in a nice, sunny and warm hospital in Puerto Rico in 1976. At the age of three, my family moved to Wisconsin (!?), so you could say I'm from another cold, dark place...
At any rate, I've been lurking around the forums since about version 1.3, and I have yet to play any of you venerable veterans... I'm working on it though. I just need to find some time to get myself online (darn one-year olds and their need for attention
).
I have to admit that my designs don't do too badly against AI, though they really need a good test (read: net game). As long as I've been playing, I haven't really developed a particular style, I just kind of adapt to the terrain and number of enemies. Again, something that needs a little testing. Anyways, I look forward to (eventually) getting in on a net game...

If somone gives you a penny for your thoughts, and you put in your two cents, who gets the change?
