Screen Scrolling

Post by Manstein63 »

I seem to be able to get the screen to scroll up & down but it won't scroll left & right (so I end up using the arrow keys) any ideas about how to fix it?

Weird. Shift plus wheel works for me.

You can also hover over the colored bar at each edge just before the grey vertical bar that is part of the "window edge design" and the map will scroll left or right. Scroll speed is settable via Player Interface menu.

Map Views are the "express" way to get around. Also clicking on a spot on the Global Map and cause the Detailed map to center there.

Does the shift key work for other functions? A simple test is when you type in a player name when you start the game.

This is a new one for me. I've never heard of this problem from anyone else.

Another test is for a stack of units, use Shift-Left-Click to move the top unit in the stack to the bottom. Alt-Left-Click does the reverse: bottom unit to the top.

EDIT: Hey! Maybe you have the Caps Lock on?

Thanks again for the quick response Steve
However I think I have figured it out there is a border within the game map screen & if you put your cursor on that border the screen moves in the direction that you are pointing

Could it be your mouse interface settings? Could be checked in Control Panel.

I really, really hesitate to say this and absolutely mean no disrespect, but you kept the Shift key depressed while moving the wheel, right?

If the window does not have focus the shift key will be registered for the other window. So you could click on the map window before you try shift+mouse-wheel to make sure the map is the focused window.

There is one other thing with shift scrolling, in the convoy map in the production screen it scrolls diagonally. It that on purpose?

I guess.[&:][:D] That code was inherited from CWIF and I have never touched it.
