Instructions on netplay

Post by Zorachus99 »

I've searched high and low, and there is no tutorial for netplay. It is completely omitted from the rulebooks.

I had complete control of two computers, and couldn't figure out wtf to do for a whole hour. [:@]

I give up.

Does anyone have a step-by-step list of instructions to follow to start a game online?

I see two players in the lobby, and there is zilch that we can do.

Very frustrating to need help, and have no documentation anywhere. [:@]

Did you click on the Help button in the NetPlay forum, just below the Exit Forum button? If you do that, you can scroll down to "Starting and Restarting a Multiplayer Game"

Magical procedure is to simply start a multiplayer game locally and make sure you name the opponent correctly.

The opponent goes directly to netplay and waits in the forum.

Thanks for the help. I couldn't find that netplay section in the rulebook.

Hello, long-time grognard, first time WIF player. I found a new tutorial #7 on the you tube and it does touch on net play, at least in the first portion. The URL is [ooops new people like me can't link yet] but search matrix games and you will find it.

I have a related question: does the multiplayer computer game have to be played via the Matrix server only, or, can it be played via a LAN with two copies of the game?

Looking forward to trying the game. I cut my teeth on the monsters (The Next War, Wacht am Rhein) back in the late 1970s. Played all versions of ACOW (still have the discs somewhere) including on a couple internet ladders, so I am familiar with PBEM also.

Can't wait to get home from the current business trip and download! Thanks for posting the tutorials on the you tubes!

For NetPlay, the only way to do so is via the Slitherine server.
