*org.exe

Post by irish_rogue »

Hi All;

I'm stumped. I had my game installed on another drive and seemingly all of a sudden I lost my org.exe files. I can't access organization editors in either West Front or East Front. I have no idea where they've gone.

I've tried reinstalling the game numerous times, as recommended to my C: drive (not inside Program Files). The files show up in explorer but when I click on the buttons inside the game, they disappear.

I have version 1.0 on disk. I've tried going 1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04 etc. doesn't work. I've tried jumping right to 1.03 and 1.04; same story. I've had my anti-virus off during all installs.

After each failed install, I've cleaned out the registry as well.

Can anybody offer any advice on this issue?

Thanks,

Cheers,

Gord Schneider

Yup. Even tried that. It starts to download V1.04 but won't complete it. Tells me it encountered an error while downloading.

At least 4 times already. I keep getting the same result. This has never happened to me before.

Hi again folks;

Well, I've found the culprit. It's my anti-virus. My org.exe files work fine as long as my anti-virus isn't running. I even tried to add the files as excludes but that didn't work.

As I've said. This is a first for me. I usually installed the game to another drive and ran everything with the anti-virus running no problem. It may have updated itself program wise and will not ignore the org.exe files.

At any rate, I'm back in business......as long as I remember to shut down my anti-virus before doing any org.exe stuff.

Thanks for the input on this.

Cheers!

That's actually something that can often happen to other old exes as well, like the Total War: Rome and other old titles I've got in my HDD. [:@]

Glad you were able to sort it out!

Thanks. I'm still working on my anit-virus to exclude the file. Avast! has a 'sandbox' feature that scans all 'exe' files and immediately deletes the ones it doesn't like. I'm going to tinker some more and see if I can find a work-around. I'll let you know how I make out.

Problem solved! My org execute files were being deleted by Avast!'s 'sandbox' feature. I wrote excludes there, in the file shield, and globally within Avast! to fix the problem.

I hope this helps somebody else out there.

Cheers!
