Adding datalinks

Post by dandin384 »

I'd like to request the ability to add datalinks to ships in the editor.

I'm working on a scenario involving a US oil tanker(#259 Commercial Tanker - Very Large Crude Carrier...) being converted into one big VLS ship with the AEGIS radar system. I've run into a problem with the two SAM's I'm using(#1310 RIM-174A ERAM SM-6MR Blk I and #1198 RIM-161B SM-3 NTW Blk IA). According to the database they need the AEGIS Missile datalink to fire, which my converted ship lacks. When I manually allocate the weapons using shift-F1 the missiles can't fire due to 'No datalink channel available to guide this weapon'

Being able to add datalinks similar to the way you can add sensors/weapon mounts would be great.

AEGIS boghammar, built using Delta INI / SBR functionality. Neat, huh?

In the 1990s there was an idea of an Arsenal ship it was to carry about 500 missiles, mostly ssm's The ship would have no fire control and would be linked to an aegis system. The idea was conceived the same time the Zumwalt-class was. Jeremy Chief of Naval Operations was pushing for this ship, but his death in 1996 also killed the idea of the ship.

Ragnar, I tried that boghammer, and it gave me some great ideas for my scenario. You can really do some cool stuff with this. I have to admit that despite knowing you guys would do a great job, at first I was uncertain because of "not being able to mod/create databases" but the way you guys have done it is just great, and you can still do things like this.
mrfeizhu, that arsenal ship is one I am going to try at some point, also.

I've always wanted a SSAAN, ohio converted to carry Phoenix missiles. Sit some where north east of a carrier, datalinked to a Hawkeye and when a soviet air regiment flies within 100nm blow them out of the sky!!
