bomdardment and friendly fire protection

Post by davidx »

Hello,

I have notice that when bombarding, the bombarding is stopped due to what appears is a very generous interpretation, as compared to the manual, of the bombardment region for friendly fire as shown in the figure. This occurs quite often. May it be related, to exit objective issue which processed in larger region as compare to the objective circle?

regards,

Looks pretty close to me. Once again the footprints of the units may well be larger than the icons. Different weapons systems have different bombardment radii as well. If you are desperate there's an "avoid friendlies" checkbox on the bombardment screen (just above REST) on the left in your screenshot which should allow fire.

Hello,

The manual states the outer yellow box is the bombardment perimeter. While it is fuzzy, i do not think it should be 300 meters fuzzy, particular from a close support unit at regimental size. The nearest unit is an assaulting infantry company whose footprint barely extends beyond the icon. I suggest it is something else.

Well the arty commander has to allow for ranging shots, presumably this is why the option to avoid friendlies can be unchecked.

What's the calibre of arty in the firing unit?

What's the occupied area of that German unit closest to the target?

Have either the target or the closest unit moved since the order was given?
