Netplay not in synch

Post by Sabre21 »

Bloodybill and I again tried today to do a Global game on Netplay. We were doing fine until we got to the British Naval phase. I was moving some ships into the North sea when it crashed. After talking with Bill, he had just sent a message to me using the in-game messaging system. My window happened to have closed out on its own just a bit earlier. As a result, the game crashed.

When we went into reload a savegame, we ran into the issue where the game wouldn't reload. We made sure we both were selecting the savegame when we noticed that the Next Entry # was one off from each other. We started to check other auto savegames. Quite a few were not in synch while some were. The ones that were loaded fine, the ones that were off by a number did not load up.

We loaded up an earlier save that did match and moved on from there. During the Brit Naval move, I sent the Polish destroyer unit out to the Baltic to intercept his convoys and sent the Polish convoy back to England. Bill sent his Nav unit into the Baltic, the search phase occurred and only the Allied unit was successful. I had several surprise points to use and skipped the first screen that allows you to choose or avoid combat wanting to spend my surprise points on surface targets. As I clicked to skip, Bill received a popup and he clicked on it and at that moment the game locked up.

We repeated the very same set of steps, the air search was nearly identical with the Allied achieving surprise points. I skipped the first window again, Bill received a popup and clicked on it and the game locked up again.

Below is a screenshot of the phase we were in and the unit number for the savegame. Bill's was one digit less than mine.

We will attach both of our in synch allied naval savegames below, the savegames after and just before that are out of synch by 1 didgit.

Here is my copy of the Allied Naval move.

To duplicate the problem,

1. move the Polish destroyer to the Baltic sea, advance the phase,
2. As the German, move the Nav unit in Kiel out to the Baltic and advance,
3. Intiate combat as the Allies and conduct a search. Hopefully the allies achieve surprise, otherwise I don't know what might happen,
4. If allied surprise is achieved, once the screen that allows surprise point allocation comes up, advance from that page without using any points,
5. As the German player, once the popup appears click ok and at that point the game locks up.

I would recommend to who ever tests this using both savegames to advance the game past the naval phase a couple phases and compare the game Next Entry #'s to see if they are in synch. (see above screenshot)

To add to Andy's post, I move a naval air unit in response to Andy hitting my convoys in the Baltic sea. I move a Me115 from Kiel to the Baltic sea. I hit the next phase icon and then it locks up . What I see is "phasing naval combat:choose combat type". We also noted that the auto saves are saving with different next entry numbers. Some of them are one off. Sometimes the entry number on my save game is one ahead of Andy's save game, and sometimes one behind.
