Like the game but need help

The development team behind the award-winning games Decisive Campaigns: From Warsaw To Paris and Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive year and theater of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue simulates the German drive to Stalingrad and into the Caucasus of the summer of 1942, as well as its May preludes (2nd Kharkov offensive, Operation Trappenjagd) and also the Soviet winter counter-offensive (Operation Uranus) that ended with the encirclement of 6th Army in Stalingrad and the destruction of the axis minor armies. With many improvements including the PBEM++ system, this is a release to watch for wargamers!

Like the game but need help

Once you get used to the idea of checking each unit in a stack rather than the stack itself it Isn't too hard to get to grips with, however I am having trouble using units efficiently. I have played the Voronezh scenario three times now as the German side and have ended up with a Soviet Minor Victory each time. I cannot find a way to exploit breakthroughs in the initial Soviet line. What happens is that any armoured or motorised units that bust out into the rear areas just get cut off and destroyed. If I restrict the movement after a breakthrough then the Soviets just plug the hole and set up a new line and even though I can annihilate the Soviet units eventually I run out of time to reach the objectives, Voronezh in particular.

Can anybody explain to me what the correct way to exploit the initial breakthrough is?

I broke out on a three hex frontage and had enough follow up troops to fill the hole. You have a couple of divisions in the rear. Like you I am new to this game but am enjoying. Also if the hole is big enough the soviets will retreat.

I find that scenario to be far the hardest to win as the Germans, so don´t be too discouraged if you cannot win it yet. Try some of the other small scenarios or perhaps the campaign. You can always return later

Historically the Soviets made some big mistakes here not properly defending Voronezh and its hard to replicate the historical result against a Soviet opponent that uses his wit.

Best,
