Retrun to Port - Naval

Post by Majorball68 »

Why is it that sometimes when returning transports to base some can go thru 2 or 3 zones and others must re base to a port in the same Naval zone?

I have the Queen Mary in the Red sea in the '2 section' and it lets me re base 2 zones to Calcutta but wont let me re base to Alexandria despite no active enemy ships in either zone?

Same happens when I drop of the BEF to France. The transport used must re base to to England despite having the MP to re base to Gibralter.

I cant find any pattern to it, seems to be random maybe I am missing something.

Perhaps you have the optional rule called in the presence of the enemy which costs an extra mp when enemy are present. Or maybe you have to curl click thru the zone again because of enemy presence

Might have to answer my own question after reading the RAC again. You lose MP equal to the sea box section your in. So if your in the 2 box you lose 2 MP from your MP. Is that correct?

Yes it is correct but Red Sea to Calcutta is longer distance then Red Sea to Alexandria so that doesn't seem to be the culprit

Yeh I might double check my actions. They are both same distance so maybe I didnt observe as good as I should. It explains north sea issue as I put my transports in a higher box with the RN so they couldnt be picked off.

Red Sea [2] -> Calcuta is dist(5), -> Alexandria is dist(4). Do you play rough seas or ipote? You also have to ctrl+click if an interception would be possible in the move. Might give you the impression the move was illegal.

That rule should not affect Return to Base.

Do the Axis have any units in the 4 hexes of the Suez Canal? That would prevent the Allies from moving through the Canal, which is necessary to reach Alexandria from the Red Sea (but not Suez). Is there a stacking problem with Alexandria? For instance, French units in the port would prevent the Queens from moving there.

EDIT: A screenshot might help us figure it out.
