Rebasing ships when no available port.

Post by Staffan »

Hi!

I did encounter a bug when ships had to rebase due to overrun.
Two french ships were based on Corsica when Italy invaded that port successful.
Gibraltar is closed and so is Suez. Only port in allied control in the med is the balearic port.
In the balearic port there are two stranded CW ships.
As France is incompletely conquered, the French ships can't go to the balearic port.
The ships should be destroyed.

Instead i can leave them in port without rebasing the ships. In this case it means that they are stacking together with an Italian div.

Problem arises at one of the endgamephases. I am prompted to move the Italian div stacked with the French ships.
Game tells me that the only eligible hex the div can go to is the one it already is in.

I tried to go back to an earlier saved game. I moved the French ships out in the western med.
Sadly I could not find them and kill them off before the returntobasephase.
Problem again in the returntobasephase when the French ships have nowhere to go and game stops again.

1 - Did you try F11 when the naval units had nowhere to go? It's not documented (I use it for debugging). What it displays is all the possible moves for a group of naval units.

2 - Selecting units one at a time may open a possible destination.

3 - To move through sea areas where enemy units might intercept, you will need to use Ctrl-Left-Click.

No, I did not try F11.
But I am still positive that there were no place for the French ships to go.
I did find the "cheatbutton" and changed a couple of search rolls when I backrolled the game, so i could sink the French navy.

Same thing worked fine with no problem when overrunning the Russian navy in Leninggrad.

Later in the game Spain was completely conquered. A French ship is still sitting in the balearic port.
The baleares went neutral as a neutral territory.

French ship was not forced to rebase.

That is correct behaviour. I have a Greek ship sitting idle in neutral Crete. As it was explained to me that status is one-way traffic. As soon as you move out, it cannot return.
