Return to base bug

Post by Sabre21 »

Playing Global Campaign in solitaire mode.

It is the CW Return to base phase of the turn and a Baffin carrier air unit refuses to return to base from the Eastern Med sea zone with its carrier.

1. Load the game and scroll to the eastern Med.
2. Go through the group of CW units in the 3 box of that sea zone and select the Boston bomber and return it to a land hex.
3. Select the remainder of the fleet and return it to and CW port. Note that the Bafin remains in the 3 box and cannot be returned to base.

If you continue the game to the Axis turn, that Bafin acts as if it is still on a carrier and will intercept Axis units entering that sea zone.

I was able to duplicate this issue with the following savegame.

Yeah, I have had something like this as well. Planes on carriers that stay behind when the fleet leaves and then they don't have the range to get anywhere.

The Bafin was disorganized and that may be the reason it never returned with the carrier. I will try and test this idea out if I can find an earlier savegame that I can use.

I did manage to load an earlier save and got back to the Return to Base phase. This time I used the fly-out to individually select one ship at a time and move it back to port. When I got to the carrier and Bafin, I made sure to highlight both and in this case, they both moved back to port together.

Prior to this I had used the control-left click to select the entire stack and move them at once. In the latter case, the bafin remains in the hex having been disorganized earlier. Any other time I used this method, the attached air units went with the carrier.
