Any Generals *improve* with rank? / Aide de Camp

Post by Davekhps »

Was just curious. I've noticed a number of generals lose skill when promoted (to reflect inability to handle larger formations). But are there any generals in the game that *improve* with higher rank?

Would be nice to know, as I'd put those generals in the line of fire more often to promote them up.

RE: aide-de-camp... rules state a general with strategic rating of 4 can serve as an aide-de-camp in an army HQ. Does the aide also need to be a three-star general? Or can any general do?

Any general will do.

I can't specifically recall a general gaining skills when promoted, but a number of them seem to be more apt toward improving skills in combat -- you definitely want them promoted to buff your overall forces.

I don't know if any generals improve their stragetic-attack-defense stats with rank, but a few do lose negative abilities while picking up good ones. For example, Sherman loses Poor Spy Network and gains Military Genius when he is promoted.

There are some which improve, Grant, Sherman, Curtis, Sheridan, Reynolds, Meade, Gordon, McPherson, Logan, Stoneman, Howard, Hanckok, Breckinridge, Taylor,... The only way to find out is to experiment if you do not wish to look into general .mdl files located in the database.

Every generals frontage bonus increase with its rank.
