First Play: Expansions or no Expansions

Post by Chrof »

Bracing my self for my first game of Distant Worlds. Since they are on sale right now I grabbed DW + all expansions. Given the complexity of this game, I was wondering if it makes sense to install all expansions for my first game.

What would you recommend for a first timer? I was thinking Distant Worlds + RotS, since from what you read around the forums most people consider this the core game.

Nope play with all expansions. Shadows simply makes it a better game. The pre-warp start is the most minimal!

You can just leave various stuff on automanage if you like.

Yes install all expansions.
Shakturi adds some new story events and some new techs.
Legends adds basicly the Characters.
Shadow allow you to play as Pirate empire.

Thanks Guys! Currently playing around with my first Pre-Warp Empire and the pre-warp start helps managing the learning curve

I liked watching a few of the how to plays on youtube. I have been playing 4x games since Master of Orion 2, we don't like to talk about 3.

Thanks Chrof for asking this question - I was wondering the same.

The only sequel I thought was worse was sword of the stars 2 but that at least was unfinished. Also, I just got super lucky in my game and found a double continental planet system with one of the planets having a huge population of humans already. Also, thanks for the welcome.
