Yugo ship

Post by Sabre21 »

Here is my situation. In a Global war solitaire game using 1.08.3, Yugoslavia was aligned with France when Germany declared war on it. When Yugoslavia surrendered, the 2 ship units moved to Malta since the British fleet was out to sea. That was a booboo since the British fleet had to stay out to sea until the next turn until the Yugo ships moved out.

So since they were aligned with the French, they visited the port of Marseilles only to find out that at the end of the turn France went Vichy, in which case these 2 ships also went Vichy.

On the next Axis move though, the Italians crossed the border and collapsed Vichy. The Yugo's were so distraught that the cruiser unit just scuttled itself but the TRS decided to try and find a new home. Unfortunately, while the few remaining Vichy French ships reverted to Free French and made their way to W. Africa, the Yugo unit reverted to Yugoslavian control but since their home country was no longer free have no where to go. Nobody wants this poor Yugo TRS.

So, what do you do in this situation when you have a ship unit with no place to go and no way to advance the game other than starting over??

Go back to the save preceding and set the die roll so it scuttles. (BTW that's a CP, not a TRS. For a minute there I thought my copies of WiF and all its expansions were missing a counter! [X(])

Wow! I had the same problem with the Yugo transport last night (unable to delete it with backspace when it would not recognize it had no home). In my case, the thing had escaped and ended up with no home in a later turn when the last Allied port on the Med. fell. I started over.

Uploading a saved game with this problem would help me fix the problem.

Try F11 if you can;t find a port for a naval stack.

Here is a savegame that puts you at the Axis land move. You will need to collapse Vichy and let it run through the ships in port determing which one goes where. There are 2 French aligned Yugo units in Marseilles. Hopefully one of them survives the die rolling. If it does, you will see that it reverts back to Yugo control with no place to go.

You may have to run this more than once if both units are destroyed.

Thanks.

With Debug capabilities, I can control the die rolls.

You could too using the Player Interface settings (but not for NetPlay games).
