32 bpp on a 64-bit system?

Post by sansing »

At the risk of stating the obvious, I am not a sophisticated computer user.

I have been having difficulty running the game Commander--The Great War (ctgw).

All the screen settings for ctgw specify 32 bpp. My version of Windows 7 features a 64-bit operating system.

Will the game run on a 64-bit system? If not, is there a way for me to fix this problem? If it matters, I am using VMware Fusion to emulate Windows on a MacBook Pro.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I am running the exact game on a Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system with no issues.

32bpp refers to the colour depth in which the game will be displayed; it's not related with if Windows is a 32-bit or a 64-bit version.

as long as the program you use to emulate windows supports the colour depth it should work, but strange things happen with emulation as no game was ever meant to be played / installed / changed this way as was never programmed to perform in this type of environment,

most games and apps will work fine in emulation as long as the hardware in use in the first place is supported
