Post by Dannyp19 »

Im back after my computer fried on me. Had to redownload the game. All my data was lost, back-ups also.

Anyway the CWDB is missing, its not in the DB folder.

Where can I find it?

Stupid Me! Never mind it showed up after I rebooted.

Still getting over the sticker shock for the quote I got to retrieve data off my fried hard and back-up drives. $3100.00 US!!!

Advice. Don't skimp on surge protection!

A whole-home surge suppressor is much more effective than the power strip variety, and they are *easy* to install in your main fuse box, and under $200 for the good ones. Turn off the main breaker and you can install one in about 15 minutes. Also, make sure your home really has a ground to earth for any surge suppressor to be effective.

It's probably just the PCBs on the drives that are bad. If you have any good drives of the *exact* make model and revision in some other computing equipment, you can swap the PCBs to get the drive up and running for data recovery. This is why I buy all my drives at least two at a time, just in case I need to swap electronics.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Hopefully the next year is better.
