Take it, brave York (1990) -- new scenario for testing

Post by Mgellis »

Here is a new scenario for testing. It involves a very late Cold War coastal patrol, looking for a Soviet submarine sneaking into British waters. What will you do if the sub is found inside territorial waters but refuses to surface and surrender?

Please let me know what you think. Feedback, comments, suggestions, identification of errors and bugs, etc. is all appreciated. Thanks!

Any other comments, suggestions, etc. for this one? Any errors (e.g., Events) that need to be fixed before I submit this to Miguel? Thanks!

I'm still playing it out and am in the process of localizing what is probably a non-baddie Goblin but in all likelihood have yet to find the Soviet sub. Personally, the scenario is of the size and scope that I quite enjoy; a Cold War situation requiring patience and attention to the ROE so as to avoid accidentally starting WW3.

Thanks for this.

I think I won it too fast accidentally.

-Start up ASW patrols with my Nimrod and a smaller one with my helicopter in the general area where the briefing says the sub was.
-Nimrod sonobouy spots a goblin, moving a little too fast for a whale.
-I switch on "Investigate contacts out of the patrol area", so my chopper flies over.
-I accelerate time while it travels.
-Accelerate time too much and the helicopter attacks the sub. Apparently it said "Goblin has been spotted attacking and is now considered hostile", though it didn't expend anything other than decoys. Helicopter attack sinks the sub, I get a victory message.
