Why does game sometimes auto-pass and sometimes not?

Post by KenPortner »

Why doesn't the game always auto-pass when all my units have already acted? Sometimes it does but others it doesnt. I click on each unit to see if there's one that can still act, but don't find any.

Thanks.

There's two possible auto-passes, not sure which one you mean. If everyone on your whole side has acted, it will show your impulse briefly and then say 'Automatic Pass.'

What I'm guessing you mean because it is a little more confusing is the auto-end of an impulse after you do something with some units. If your stack is done and you have no more stacks that can activate, it will end at that point. It's not really a pass, more like automatically hitting 'Finished.'

It won't do this, though, if you activated a leader because there is now a radius of hexes that can activate some other units. There are some vehicles as well where it won't end the impulse automatically after firing, the Sd222 and KV1S in particular, because of the way their guns work. The Sd222 can fire twice and the KV1S has rear MGs, and the game won't know if you are really done after firing once.

I do want to make it smarter about the radius - right now if there is a green radius at all it won't end the impulse and ideally it would only do that if there was actually somebody there to activate but it is a dangerous thing to mess with because the activations are sort of complicated and if there ends up being a bug with it, turns automatically get cut off prematurely and people riot. Figuratively, I hope.

Well, a turn is composed of a number of impulses equal to the number of hexes in which you have units, right? (Since you get to act with each unit in each separate hex)

I'm taliking about the situation where ive acted with each unit but it's still giving me the option to pass even though i don't have anymore units to act with.

Try pressing N and P, it might show you the one that isn't quite done. Or it thinks isn't done... if it's confused let me know. Thanks!

Shaken units aren't "done". They can still move. That can be one reason you don't auto complete when u expect too.
