Residual machine gun fire

Get ready for Mark H. Walker's Lock ‘n Load: Heroes of Stalingrad. This is the first complete computer game in the Lock ‘n Load series, covering the battles in and around Stalingrad during World War II.

Residual machine gun fire

Post by toddtreadway »

The Introduction, Page 5 of the manual states this:

"A turn-based game, Heroes of Stalingrad retains Lock ‘n Load’s engaging impulse system while adding features, such as flanking fire, hidden units, and
residual machine gun fire, that would just be too fiddly for the boardgame."

I would love to see residual machine gun fire. Was that left out of the final product? Will it be added?

Residual fire is possible if you have the Slayer skill card. So it's in there.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

Skill card?? this game uses cards? does the ai use them? So many games that have the card system and the ai doesn't use them.

I don't think that was the intent of that card. The reason I think this is that the Slayer card applies to any firing Multi-man counter/hero, regardless whether they are firing a machine-gun or not. I know the card says something like "they are expert machine-gunners...", so you might be right.

I think they were referring to residual fire, similar to residual fire in Advanced Squad Leader, the board game. I.e., you shoot at a hex and there is partial firepower into the hex for the remainder of that turn.

Just curious if there ever was a "residual fire" concept in this game, similar to Advanced Squad Leader (the board game).

Thx!

Certain units at eh start of scenarios or heroes when they are created during play have a Skill Card.
This gives the unit a special ability, usually let it do more than the normal rules would allow.

And yes the AI does get and use them.
