Skill card not working (seemengly...)

Hi,

I was playing 'In the beginning' scenario as German player.
After some turns, I spawned a Hero with the Speedy skill card in woods hex (which allowed me to add 2 MF to my hero and all units in his stack).

After a couple of turns, I decided to use this card to dash through an open area and so enter a melee with Russian player into a victory building (some 6 MF away from my hex)

The units in my hex were the hero with skill card and 3 x full squads + 2 x MG34 SWs, all counters in good order.

I couldn't find a way to activate the skill card , though, so I couldn't exploit my 8 MF capability.

Any idea / suggestion on this, please?

Speedy only affects the hero himself. It affects other units in the stack if a leader has it.
