German Campaign - Guards Counterattack

Post by gargoil »

One word, nasty!

I have tried this game several times. The last time, with Wurtz (7-2-6) a upgraded 2-6-6 Squad with a MG2 added the building just across from the factory the Guards attack from. Had a PzIII (or IV, cant remember right now) in the Rubble victory hex. I held all the victory locations, but taking the extra building is just asking to much, considering there are 3 Soviet fire locations and roadblocks (or barbed wire, whatever it was) making it a tuff nut. Looks like the hero is the one that suppose to do that I guess, but I used him to assault a full hex of shaken guards. It looks like luck is a must in this scenario. I have tried 6-7 times, and I am wearing down.

Original poster here.

I played this scenario right after posting. And finally won! As I suspected, the starting German hero is the one that can take the last building victory hex. Key difference in this game is I used Wurtz, upgraded squad and MG42 in woods next to the building directly in front of the Guards factory. That made that a good kill zone that I could exploit and retake.
