Japanese Supply Problems In China

Post by GaPete_slith »

I do not know if this is a bug or am I not understanding something about the supply and this particular spot on the board. For some reason, Japanese troops only, in the area I've posted this picture of, always go out of supply. The weather does not seem to matter. Most of the time when I move the Japanese it will say they are in supply at the end of their move. Then, when the very next action comes around it will automatically make them all, out of supply. This never changes. I can exit the game and come back in at the point where I left and suddenly the Japanese are all in supply again. As soon as the next action comes up, they are right back out of supply. I've looked over the boards and can't find anybody else posting anything about so help would be appreciated. As you can see in the picture the units are in supply. This is in the combat declaration phase. When it comes time to actually do the combat the Japanese attacks are canceled and I get a window that says it is because all the units are not in supply.

OH, and it does not show it in this picture but the HQ unit Yamamoto is under the Japanese fighter that is located next to the 6-3 Marine unit.

This one has been given the nickname of "the Bermuda Triangle" in numerous bug reports. Hopefully this bug will be fixed soon.

Some workarounds that may help are to move a unit and then undo it, or select a unit and then hit the Escape key - and then see if supply recalculates. Another is to save the game and then reload it.

Known bug. This also happens during rail movement and land movement. It's annoying, but you can work around it, by saving the game and restoring it just before land combat (and after the declaration of land combat). If this doesn't do the trick, can you upload a saved game in here, so we can investigate?

Here you go Centuur, this is the specific game the screenshot came from. I think it's right around the time that I did the shot, maybe a phase or so after. Thanks for letting me know that is a known bug. Grrr it is frustrating. I've tried some of the work around you have mentioned. Some work some of the time. Thanks for letting me know and, LOL, that's a good name for it, Bermuda Triangle. Good luck looking at it.

Apparently, in your saved game there is a land combat in progress if I restore it. I can't do anything with it and that's strange, since you should not be able to save a game, while a land combat is in progress. That's a bug, I believe, which is outside of the supply bug itself...

That wasn't the only bug. That particular game did some very strange things right around that impulse. Several times in a row it cycled thru the ground attack phase multiple times, and then, after the combat was over with, it would cycle thru the return to base phase several times, only problem is that once you got to the second time around you didn't have any planes left that you could return to base sooo, guess what, it wouldn't let you move to the next phase. I just kept closing the program and restoring the game until, finally after about three tries or four times, it finally worked and I was able to move on.

Please make sure you are running the most recent version. 1.1.5.0 was made available today.

I checked for updates yesterday and there were none but, if it was put up today I'll get it at once! Thanks. I also wanted to let you know that now I've discovered another area that does the exact same thing, around the Manchurian capital. Strangely enough, it only seems to happen to Japanese units. I'll let you know if the patch fixes all of that! Thanks again!

I have a hunch (and it's only a guess, mind you, I have no insider knowledge) that the problem around Harbin is caused by the game not crediting railway supply paths with having a rail line when moving through swamps. This hunch is based on the fact that there are swamps along the rail path in several places where the issue occurs.

I think it is more intercomplex. I have a situation that I can OOS a Jap HQ in Manchuria by picking up the other Jap HQ in Nanchang in the railroad phase. I suspect that when the Bermuda bug is gone, it will be easier to find out what happens in Harbin. If that still exists by that time.

I don't think it has anything to do with the rails thru swamps because I tested a lot of possibilities including that one. The rail that goes thru the swamp in that area was even in Chinese control, eliminating that as a possible problem. The Japanese were being supplied down the rail line to the south that was the shortest possible route to the sea. At any rate, I now have the patch and I'll probably get a chance to test it out later today.

This patch fixed most of the problems getting Germans in supply in North Africa via the med. Steve is now focussing on Japanese in China. If your problem in Harbin is not fixed in this one, there is a good chance it will be in the next.

Oh good, well I haven't had a chance to see if it is fixed at lake Tungting yet, as the fighting has moved elsewhere, but no it isn't fixed at Harbin yet, I know that for sure, and the temp methods that fixed it down south arent' working in Manchuria. I haven't had a chance to see what happens with the Germans in Libya, since Italy and Britain haven't been at war yet. Might find out though.
