Battles from the Bulge won't launch

Until today Battles from the Bulge worked fine. Today I downloaded correctly patch 6.274 of COBFTB, but when I tried to launch it from the desktop icon, programs list or exe icon in the game file in the hard disk I got the following message:
"The procedure entry point_except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library mscrt.dll." Can't make heads or tails of it.
So I TWICE uninstalled and reinstalled the game from the DVD disks I received when I bought it and it still gives me the same message when I try to launch it. To be on the safe side, I did not add any patches, I just tried to start the version of the game in the DVD.
When I call up the tutorial or the update handle, they both work, instead.
What can I do to fix this?
