Wrong PWHex file?

Post by GaryChildress »

I'm trying to open a save game that just returned from my PBEM opponent and it's telling me that PWHex file doesn't match. I've attached the save game. Not sure what to do.

My opponent is running the beta patch so I tried to patch up to it but I must have missed something. This is what I DLed to upgrade to: tm.asp?m=3185062

I did a new install of WitP/AE, patched with the latest official patch and then DLed the beta and patched with that. Is there some step I'm missing? This is the first turn for the game.

Thanks for any help!

Gary,
I'm still using the beta (2nd to latest, I think) and I get a pwhex error trying to open this save also.
Two thoughts:
1. Try to do another install from scratch - sometimes they don't take or one of the steps doesn't take (I've had the official patch install fail on me before.)
2. Is one of you playing with Andy Mac's improved scenarios while the other isn't? Don't know if this affects pwhex or just database, but it was a thought.

Good luck in the new PBEM, and I hope one of these helps.

Gary, I think your opponent has the pwehex file for stacking limits and you don't.

Thanks for the head's up EHansen. Where do I get the stacking limits PWHex? Is it in one of the updates or is it from someone else's private mod?

EDIT: Also what do you mean by stacking limits? I thought the AE PWHex file has always had stacking limits?

It is here on the Babes site. https://sites.google.com/site/dababeswi ... tended-map

The last line is the one you want.

With this set of files, all hexes will have a stacking limit and many bases will have smaller limits than
you are used to with the stock limits.

Gary, ignore my last e-mail!

My fault entirely, I forgot that the stacking limits where not included in the latest beta and you had to add them as an extra.

That will sort it!

The beta releases do not touch data. You need the corresponding data files for any modded scenarios, as only the official data files are installed. And they don't necessarily have stacking limits defined - stacking limit support was added so that modded files could be used.

What info do you need from me so we can work out what is wrong?

Or will it have no effect?
