I was noticing some odd problems with the game a few days ago. I uninstalled and re-installed and now it seems fine.

Bear in mind the problems were not solved by only uninstalling with the windows program uninstall utility.

I found that in addition I had to manually delete the remaining files from my drive. After that the game played normally.
