My AP's keep getting attacked, help please

Post by Saladin »

Hello and welcome to my newbie thread! LOL. I need some advice on how to protect my AP's. I am trying to load a task force at Gili Gili unsuccessfully. Every time I get my task force of 3 AP's there they get bombarded and sunk while I'm trying to load my men. Ok I'm sure you advanced players know how to avoid this but the only answer I can come up with is to load them elsewhere like Brisbane or something. Isn't there another way? Can I give them air cover from Gili Gili? Should I escort them with some DD ships that have better AA guns? Any help would be appreciated thanks! Don't laugh!!

Hi,

Would you like to try fast transport tfs from say Cairns : several Fast Transport TFs composing of only DDs should be able to extract your forces in one turn. Worst come to worst, send a Aircombat TF and station them off Gili-Gili for a few days with LRCAP over Gili-Gili with replenishment TF tagging along. Land based LRCAP is always useful.

Regards.

Hi Saladin,

Escort and a/c coverage are what you need (or, bad weather, which you can't count on). Put some PCs or DDs in the TF to provide AA and perhaps more lucrative targets for attacking a/c.

If it's really critical to get the troops out, you can:

1. use fast transports (as noted by Patrick).

2. move some transport a/c to GG and have them fly the troops out.

3. send a surface TF to the area to use as a better target for the enemy.

In any case, you should always provide AA escort to transports (unless they are in the WAY behind lines) and a/c coverage for front lines.

Note that LRCAP has been decreased in effectiveness in 2.0.
