scenario editor question

The development team behind the award-winning games Decisive Campaigns: From Warsaw To Paris and Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive year and theater of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue simulates the German drive to Stalingrad and into the Caucasus of the summer of 1942, as well as its May preludes (2nd Kharkov offensive, Operation Trappenjagd) and also the Soviet winter counter-offensive (Operation Uranus) that ended with the encirclement of 6th Army in Stalingrad and the destruction of the axis minor armies. With many improvements including the PBEM++ system, this is a release to watch for wargamers!

scenario editor question

Post by navwarcol »

I have enjoyed messing with this game, and "Warsaw to Paris" since I got the pair. I have begun tinkering heavily with both games, and created several new SFT types... recon specialists, for example. Creating these then, also led me to create the units to use them in.. and to add them into the reinforcement/replacement schedules, etc.

All of these work fine, but when it comes to actually refilling the units with replacements, the unit fills up with regular infantry instead, while the "arriving replacements" of the recon troops just keep piling up at the respective headquarters, or, even worse, being doled out piecemeal to the regular line infantry units. I made them better at recon, but weaker offensively than regular infantry units, and also mobilized them in halftracks for the mobile units. Is there any way to get the units to only replace with their specific type of infantry? I also see it occasionally do the same thing for security troops, adding them into the line infantry.

Thanks in advance!

Wish I could help you. I have yet to tackle the reinforcements method... I am sure I will at some point though...

You'll have to look at the following 2 stats of an SFType:
-reinforcement type
-reinforcement type 2

There are sadly only 50 different reinforcement types available (see groupnames in settings).

A work around would be to add new peoples since reinforcements are only given if the reinforcement troops at the HQ have:
-the same reinforcement type OR reinforcementtype 2 as the reinforcement type needed by the historical unit requesting the reinforcements
-the same people as needed by the historical unit requesting the reinforcements

ps: reinforcementtype2 is only send if reinforcementtype cannot be found. Because of this you can find StugIIIs instead of PzIII/IVs in armour units and secondary or ersatz infantry in regular infantry units. The logic here is: better to have any replacement than none.

best,
Vic

Thanks both... and Vic... great games! I can hardly wait to see what your new one will be.

Edit: Quick follow up question, Victor:
Is the "reinforcement type" listed in the SFT setting... referring to the types of unit, that particular SFT will be sent to reinforce? Or is it a reference to the types of reinforcement that will be sent to units with that SFTtype? A subtle difference, I recognize, but possibly a crucial one as well.
