Runtime error

Post by Bipman »

Hello.

I ran the updater today and it 'updated the updater'. The updater then tried to download the latest update but hung up so I had to kill it in Task Manager. Now I get a 'Runtime Error in update.exe'; can I fix this easily ? I am running Windows 7 64 bit and COBFTB is at version 4.4.263

Has anyone seen this ? Can I get hold of the update.exe program again or should I re-install ?

It's the update.dat file that's the problem. Can I download the latest one from somewhere ?

That error looks like the update failed. I will ask Matrix to look into this as they are responsible for the update.exe.

my game version says 263. When i used the updater to download and install 263 it seemed to go fine but after installing 263 i hit update again to see if there was a newer official version and the error happens every time.

Don't know if this would make any difference but I installed the 278 beta and the error still happens when i hit the update button.

Hello,

This is caused by a program or setting denying access to the file during the update process. I will upload a fix for you momentarily. Please be sure all security software is turned off and the updater is allowed in your firewall settings.

Unzip the attached zip into the root of your install folder. Make sure you allow it to overwrite. This should fix the problem. If not please let us know what happened in detail.

Cheers
Gerry
