Great work modders..and request

Post by wodin »

I must say a massive thanks to the modders making new art\maps\counters and scenarios..superb work.

One request if possible would be if it's possible to them to all be amalgamated so we don't have to keep swapping files and over writing in the Custom Folder. Not sure if it would be possible..would would be a great help. Or if the modder can just add their new units etc to the latest custom folder files?

I'm also losing track on what has been released...not sure if we can have a sticky thread where all mods are listed and added too?

Guys,

I'm keeping track of All the WWII counters. Every counter for WWII scenarios that get posted on this forum I put into a set "custom" folder,(nation, terrain, sprite, unit). These can be obtained in the first post on "Counter Pack" topic and at the Bottom of the first page of the topic "You want new units-WWII units are here". Each update I add a .1...right now the counter pack is on 1.1. In a week or so I will post counter pack 1.2.
Adding all these counter bmps to the excel files so they work in the game takes time. Luckily USgrandprix has agreed to help making csv files. Even still we cant keep up with all the new bmp files produced by Maitrebongo.

Laska has an entire web page devoted to maps and scenarios...most working maps and mpp files can be found there...go to laskas thread for location. And again the maps are being held in a central location at the topic "You want new maps-New maps are here" topic.

If grab the counter pack (dropping the bmp files in the art/counter folder of HoS) and dropping all the csv files in the Custom folder of HoS. You should have all the counters you need for any WWII scenario posted here.
If you grab all the maps off laskas web page (dropping the bmp files in art/maps) and dropping all the mpp files in Maps of HoS. You should have all the maps for all scenarios posted here except "hell" scenario by Jcrochio.

Once you do that just drop the scenarios in the maps folder..and you can play any WWII scenario posted here.

This is the best we can do...unless someone makes a web page that all the modders can access.

Thanks for the summary - That helps clarify things. I have a birthday coming up so I hope to pick this up soon. When I do, I can see that JSGME will be my friend.

Thank you to all the modders here.

If a scenario has custom units you have to do unique units.csv and sprites.csv files (and usually a nations.csv file). This has to do with the way things like dedication, hero generation, crew generation, and the like work. The good news is once you have the counter files and .map file in the right place the only thing you need to swap out are the .csv files for the scenario you want to play in the custom folder.

I just keep backups of my .csv files in appropriately named folders and swap them out if I'm playing a scenario with custom units.

Also, there are some custom scenarios built on the base game units that only require you to add the .map file once and then forget about it.
