[Avestron]

Well... it had to happen sooner or later.

Going to be using this thread to post some of my better designs that I either found worked well - or were of interest.

Individual titans into different threads to keep things a little tidy - although a list further down in this thread.

How to Import

0 - Backup any files in the 'Matrix Games/Titans of Steel Warring Suns/data/xchange' (or equivalent if installed to a different main folder) to reduce chance of data loss.

1 - Download the attached file.

2 - This files is a .zip file renamed to include a '.txt' at the end of the file name. Rename accordingly eg. "shared.zip".

3 - Unzip the file.

4 - Copy to the 'Matrix Games/Titans of Steel Warring Suns/data/xchange' folder

5 - Load up Titans of Steel, Enter the Factory, and click 'Import'

The first - a Recon Titan - holds distinct similarity to the Wrathchild in that its primary weapon system consists of a Neutron Blaster.

In terms of secondary weapon systems the Echo foregoes the heavier engine and pulse lasers of the Wrathchild in favor of a small laser and twin machine guns. The recharge is admittedly a little slower but doable - and is well-compensated through installation of a better combat computer (thanks to the lighter chassis).

Furthermore a big gain in cooling - and slightly better armour.

NB doesn't exactly make for an ideal newbie titan - but its pretty good for short-to-mid-range support. Just beware of the lack in defensive features.

[Avestron]

Another design - although without direct equivalent in the Recon line. Aptly named the viper it is a light titan with fun rather than competitiveness in mind - although its no slacker.

Renamed from Viper as there happens to be a Viper in a higher weight category.

I personally like a good computer on a mech of any size - and the price that had to be paid was dually armour and cooling.

While the cooling is quite good for a recon it struggles to keep up with the heat generated in the heat of all-out combat. Sparing use of the light mesun in close combat will probably lead to best overall result.

Added armor to vibra claw arm to compensate of self-incurred damage on miss.

Again, this titan is in keeping with my trend of packing a high level of DPS capability along with a good degree of cooling. Can still get hot in battle - though this has improved since earlier variants.

This naturally at the expense of armour and defensive features.

OK. This particular design is an attempt to take the Echo and add some 'features' to improve upon the strengths of the Recon design. I have mixed feelings about the above... slightly favouring the next mech (although this design does have certain plusses - not least of which being a minor cooling plus).

A modest increase in firepower as well as balanced improvements in the areas of armour and defensive features give the Surgeon a degree of independence that the Echo could not hope for. Furthermore decent shielding and life support is not common at this weight level - compensating somewhat for the weight investment.

Ah the Vamp... this is actually a predecessor to the Surgeon.

I have personally found this to be quite successful as a titan for it's weight class.

This titan can hold its own against most assailants in its class. It has inferior defensive options to the Surgeon but still packs a DCS. More importantly it is well-suited for taking down enemies in close quarters - weakened by Neutron Blaster fire.

A slightly better power balance also improves energy recharge time a little.

A possible customization is a replacement of Dullaroy with Millenia in the CT. Significant improvement in heat dissipation at the cost of about 3AP and the weight is near enough the same.

[Avestron]

The Roaster, as the name would suggest, relies significantly on heat-inducing weaponry (flame throwers) to gain an edge in close combat.

For a change this titan is actually fitted with (barely adequate) jump ports.

A decent amount of armour and defensive options.

The most direct competitor in the same class would probably be the Crucible - which packs more damage-dealing (and roasting!) capability (I suspect) as well as excellent jump capability.

On the other hand this titan enjoys better cooling and defensive options (jump aside).

Sweet Demise's primary weapon systems consist of a pair of neutron blasters. Secondary weapons include a pair of flame throwers - intended mainly for defensive purposes (a titan that is hot attacks less and hits less often too)

The machine guns are more annoying than anything else at this weight class butmay very well adequately mess up a given titan before running out of ammo.

Like the Echo - more of a support titan - and this may very well kill off enemy pilots without too badly damaging their Titan for salvage purposes.

Generally a Melee/Guided setup is good for the leader type that focuses on INT/INS/CHA, though better Life Support would've been nice as I go with Female Replicant Is mostly to make INT two levels cheaper and get a free INS on top, which synergizes well with this setup. Chainsaws are the king of light titans IMO. It's very heat efficient and barely raises to yellow level. I also prefer Scan./Comp. 6 if possible, to get good XP from green scans and to-hit bonus.

Same as the first design but for energy guys. Really, the chainsaws make it shine, the lasers do their job when you close in.
Jump jets would've been nice but I hardly ever charge or do death from above maneuvers so I went without jets.
Continously firing the Medium Lasers raises heat fast.

Unguided/Energy synergises well with DEX/REA builds. At higher skill levels (60-80) this does loads of damage, in theory 72 points on an alpha strike which can happen when you are in the same hex with a green scan. The pulse laser drives the heat rather high so use it sparingly as backup or emergency weapon.
