NEW EASTERN FRONT CAMPAIGN SCENARIO!

Hi guys, sorry I have not been around here much,but I have been busy with real life stuff,that said I'm back again,and I come bearing a gift.I have created a new scenario,EASTERN FRONT! At game start only Germany,Austria,Russia & Serbia are at war,all other Nations are NEUTRAL.[:D]

As I said in the last post,only 4 Countries are at war,so this is a what if sand box game,where all the other Countries start at 50% Neutral.[;)]

Looks interesting! Will have to try it. Do other nations like Bulgaria and the Ottomans come in later?

How did Russia's morale drop to 24% in the 2nd screenshot?

Hi Rob,
Yes other Nations come in to the scenario,it's just like any other scenario in that,depending on game events,you get swings in diplomatic relations.[;)]

Your second question,the screen shot was taken on the AI initial turn,so Russia is still officially to get involved.[:)]

NB: This is a new link,which has the Russian turn delayed very slightly,this gives the CP Player the opportunity to move his German forces before being attacked by Russia.

Thanks for the new scenario. Just fired it up .... I'd like to make to observations/suggestions:

1. When you start with the CP, it seems the German units can't move (their icons are "grayed out"). This coupled with observation #2 creates a bit of a sticky wicket for the Kaiser's boys.
2. As you point out, Russia is already at war on turn 1. So with German troops unable to nothing, it means the Russians get a massive first strike before the Germans can do anything.

Can I suggest delaying the Russian entry until turn 3(?) as in the main 1914 scenario? The Russians may have been committed to Serbia on Turn 1, but they hadn't completed their mobilization yet. This also gives the Germans a chance to build some units and transfer troops from the west to the east before the Russian hammer falls.

A very minor point is the fact the the scenario still has the event notification of France declaring war on Germany/AH in support of Serbia. No big deal operationally.

Played the scenario up to the winter of 1914 as the CP so far. A bit different from the grand campaigns, it felt a little weird (in a good way) to empty out the Western front and send the entire German army east. Some pretty big battles, Russia wasn't quite the pushover I thought it would be. One of the things I like is defeating France and the UK are still listed as victory conditions, so at some point they will have to be attacked, but at a time and place of my choosing. It is also interesting to have the Royal and French navies sidelined, the German Navy rules the Baltic so lots of shore bombardments and amphibious assaults are possible. Also German convoys really have nothing to fear once the Russian Navy is knocked out. Different dynamic, but I like it.

Downloaded to the desktop, icon there, copied readme first (to place here), the below instructions I have never dealt with before. If it's not too much to ask: can you show me and others a step by step on how to do this install (with SS would be nice). Please, if anybody knows how to do this, step right up, for I am totally ignorant when it comes to going into files and such, I make no excuses for being so, but am willing to learn, this tech stuff is wicked intimidating to me.

Commander The Great War Eastern Front Campaign Scenario.

How to install.( only 3 files need to be installed to play this scenario.)

Always make a backup off your original files,before you make any changes.


Step 1 = Within your games directory,open the data file,and overwrite the English Language file.

Step 2 = Now open the scripts file,and add the Eastern Front Lua file.

Step 3 = Now open the UI file,and overwrite the scenario file.

Step 4 = Your done the new scenario is ready to play enjoy!

Here follows a series off screen shot,that hopefully will act as a guide on how to install this new scenario.

1 = locate where you have your game installed on your PC,the default directory is Program Files,Slitherine,Commander The Great War.Left click twice on DATA highlighted in red,to open the data file.

I can't be the only one in the world, who does not know this phishing through programs to add/change something...[&:]

You mentioned to make a backup of the game before making changes: How is that done? If this is too difficult for you or anybody else to explain to me and others, I'll just wait for the 1.50 patch to be released, with I expect, the new Eastern Front Campaign. The bad news would be: I will never learn how install a MOD here. [8|]

I question how to add Lua file and overwrite files? and where do I find them? Are they something that can be copied and pasted (line by line), or do I have the concept wrong?

If any of you old pros at this have any suggestions, I'd appreciate the help.
