New Scenario: Operation Square Peg

New scenario: A small, simple one featuring F-22s in a bombing role they were not originally intended for, hence the title.

I like the concept. I tried it a few times, but always lost one Raptor fairly early and that ended the mission.

I might try modifying the scoring...since it is a very short mission, it might be better to just let the F-22s do their best and then see what the score is at the end, rather than having an event that ends the mission early on. In addition, I might change the scale so that, assuming you hit all of the targets, 0 losses = triumph, 1 loss = minor victory, 2 losses = minor defeat (even if you hit all the targets), and 3 losses or more = disaster.

Anyway, just my two cents. I hope this helps.

I agree with Mgellis: as soon as my F-22s reached the combat zone I lost one and the scenario ended. It's also a bit unrealistic to have a situation where F-22s are used in an unintended role as part of a desperate response to a crisis only for the mission to fail as soon as there are any losses.

Second attempt was completely successful though [:)] I didn't realise SDBs were so long ranged, and assigning 3 to each HAS earned me a triumph.

I knew the range of the SDBs from the start, so in all my test runs, I never lost an F-22, always launching them from a considerable distance. You're probably right about the scenario ending-I'll change it so that you get a huge point loss but don't automatically fail the scenario if you lose a fighter.

Quick and clean, not much of a challenge but interesting study:

I assigned 2 SDBs per HAS, with 4 bombs left for a sweep. 7 HAS's left, most damaged. I'll try again, toss a couple SDBs towards the SAMs to keep them busy, then 1/HAS with a good number left to sweep clean and try and get them all.

Fun quick & dirty scenario. Not very difficult but thats ok. After playing and looking at some saves made halfway from the Syrian side I'm a bit surprised how far out they can already detect the F-22s (70 miles out). Still, they cant seem to get a firing solution with their SAMs which helps

No AWACS meant I had to turn on some of the F-22s radars but it was not a problem. They fired a lot of SAMs at my SDBs (30 mile shots, two per shelter and the rest on various targets) and took a few out but most came through.
