Still a gem

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Still a gem

Post by Frido1207 »

Rediscovered WAWAWD after a long while and have plenty of fun playing versus the AI.

Next to WbtS the most underrated game of the Matrix catalog imo.

Edit: Oops, noticed this thread tm.asp?m=3237705 a little late. [8|]

Hehe, seems this game gets one of those threads regularly, and I definitely agree with OP (even though vs AI has lost its charm after a few PBEMs)!

I know there is a tablet version in the works, but I do think a PC-update would be great as well, especially the PBEM-support later Matrix games have would be nice, if made compatible with the iPad-version even better (would love to check out my turn on my iPad and think about it, then actually make it on the PC).

Also with Matrix late adventures into Steam I think this game deserves a second chance. Even though it is surprisingly deep I do not think it scares less hardcore wargamers the same way I guess some of the hex-based games do.

I would very much like to know two things.
I love the looks of the game and love playing slow MP games as it offers.

But,
1. is it on STEAM?
2. has it been updated to work well without the bugs on newer systems (win7, 8, higher resolutions etc). Does it also look good on high resolutions?
3. What is the price with all the updates?
4. Does it work well on MAC?

Thank you very much.

It would be fantastic to update it to be able to connect to ipad games and offer a whole new public for the strategy games of this caliber.

Thnx for info.
playing RTS, strategy and RPG games from ...ever?
