Advice for making neutral units

Post by Coiler12 »

In a few scenarios with a ton of neutral units, I've noticed that some planes will run out of fuel, the "unit destroyed" events will trigger, and you'll pay the price even if you didn't do anything.

To prevent this, before you make random ferry missions, make sure the farthest potential distance between any two airfields is shorter than the range of the aircraft you're using on the missions.

Ok, good idea. Had this happening before and wondered why.

Also the designer needs to make sure that the 'home airbase' is one of the two that the AC is ferrying between. If you start your AC already flying the editor has an annoying habit of choosing the furthest away home base, then for some reason, and only sometimes, and perhaps its been fixed, the AC will try and fly to its home base before starting again. Did this a few months ago for a scenario in the North Atlantic but some how had Saigon on the map - didn't work well [:-]

I'll keep this in mind. It usually doesn't happen when I test a scenario, but I could see how it might be a problem so I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks.
