Planet Bug

Post by solops »

I have encountered a potentially game stopping bug new to Universe. Look at planet Brofa in Dhurean system in the save game file Solopsplanetbug.dwg that I uploaded to the ftp site. Every time I press the build button in the build process to construct a new starbase there the base instantly explodes. Worse, all of the ships that go to the planet get damaged. I played on from the save game point submitted and had shortly piled up a hundred damaged merchants there. Please examine. This bug was present in v1952. Updating to 1953 did not fix it. I cannot say if it was present before that or not.

Guys, any word on this? DWU is shut down for me right now due to my economy strangling---merchant fleet all damaged at one planet. It would probably be worse faster, but all my merchies have repair robots.

It could be sabotage attacks. They seem to be too effective in some games where building something blows up, sabotage is suspected, and I rebuild to get the same happening a short time later (even under the original DW series). This tends to just keep happening - a few times perseverance works but i lose a huge amount of money and materials.

No. This is a bug. The planet is one constant explosion when new stuff shows up there. There is no "short time later." The destruction is instant and happen to ALL new structures and ships. The cause could be a number of things.

Any word on whether the devs checked this? It repeated regularly for me in that save game.

Hi solops

That planet is in a galactic storm (the nearby Drumond Caas Typhoon to the south). So the storm is damaging the ships and bases there.

You can avoid storm damage to ships and bases if you use Reactive Armor (or better). Make that research project a priority [8D]

Thanks

Well, rat potty! That was suggested above and when I checked I did not notice that storm. I must say though, that it is a pretty severe circumstance, given the effect it has on a merchant fleet. You guys might want to think about that a bit. Sorry to bother you.
