Naval Task Forces

Post by Platon »

Is there a way to keep a tediously built Naval Task Force as such when returning it to port so the process of rebuilding it for the next turn has not to be done all over again?
And it is also my belief that there has to be CAP for the active player during Ground Support.

Not really. I have had this on my list of "nice features to add" for years. In fact, there are aspects of that that I had started to code in some of the forms - which I removed prior to the game's release.

My design calls for there being Task Force Details and Task Force Summary forms that are similar to the Naval Review Details and Summary forms. Maybe some day in the distant future.[:(]

Maybe there ist a relatively easy workaround in the meantime.
When looking at the NRD Form and Units in Hex Form I noticed that the layout for Sea Areas and Ports are the same, so when looking at a port there are radio buttons for sections there (0 - 4) like for the sea areas, they are just unused; clicking on either always shows all the naval units in port.
Now if, when moving a naval task force from a sea area to a port the Choose Sea Section Box would open, just like it does when moving it to a sea area, and let you choose to put the units in one of the five sections they would be in a notional, distinctive section of the port (like being anchored in Battle Ship Row of Pearl Harbour for instance, or in a seperate dock, etc.). Achieving this there would be up to five of these "docks" where one can group naval units to "Task Forces" and having an easy way to put them up and move them back at sea later on in the game (via the Units in Hex Form for example).

Just my two cents to that topic while looking on my shadows on the wall.

with kind regards
