Battel Group Size

Close Combat: Panthers in the Fog is the first new release (not a re-make of a previous games) in years in the critically acclaimed Close Combat series. It details the desperate German counter-attack at Mortain, the last chance of the Wehrmacht to stave off defeat in Normandy. Can you match the tenacity of the American defenders of Hill 314? Or can you succeed where the Panzers failed, driving through to the sea and changing history? Improved 32-bit graphics and the ability to control more squads than ever bring the Close Combat engine to a new level.

Battel Group Size

Post by TWJunky »

Hi Guys!
I am curious about battle group size. I think i know how to tell the size a a group by the lines above its natio counter. Here is the problem: when i merge 2ss Pnazer groups with each 3 lines above them shouldn´t i get a bigger group that is able to host 7 support units? curenttly the two groups just join forces and i still can just host a maximum of 4 support units. What am I understanding wrong here?

The size of the resulting BG may increase depending on what you merge into it. The only thing that counts for determining the size / slots is the appropriate type of sub-units. So if you merge an armored BG into an infantry BG, the armored companies become 'support' and do not count towards increasing the number of slots in the BG. You also may not see a slot increase if you merge a small BG into a large one.

Thank you for the input steve. do i understand it correctly: that only the same type of BG´s should be merged to get additional slots? Because I have tried that as well and merged a 2 battalion infantry bg with another 2 battalion infantry bg, which should make a 3+ goup and therefore have 7 support slots. Sadly this didnt happen. the whole issue seems rather in-transparent and isn’t explained anywhere. is it possible to make some sort of guide on how to do this correctly.
