On Stalin's Order, 1945 -- new beta for testing

Post by DeltaIV »

This is something completely different and still highly experimental. There are Yaks and Spitfires.

This will need some more balancing (or I'm just weak). If someone wins this (completes both objectives), give me a shout [8D]

EDIT: Winnable, just matter of tactic (as always).

EDIT: Entirely reworked Version 2 is up!

EDIT: Version 3 is up [probably final]

Some minor fixes were done to briefing, adjusted the scoring (-500 disaster, 0 is triumph) and there's now proper scenario end when are all mission objectives achieved.

Played it and won it, via sending the bombers on a low-altitude attack. Was not a casualty-free victory, but the scenario is a 1940s one.

Points:
-This is just stylistic, but the briefing I found too crude and unprofessional, and it would work better with some tidying up.
-The scenario can be won with a low-altitude attack by the bombers against both targets. Putting some lighter AAA around them would be realistic and make it considerably more difficult.
-The allied counter-raid is problematic against a single-unit airfield, you might want to make the Soviet base a multi-unit one.

Played through and similar losses. It was scored as minus 20 though so presumably not a win?
Probably needs the scoring, and perhaps a trigger for when you succeed in the attack?
It should be possible to win on the first attack run I think, but losses inevitably pretty high.

The scen is undergoing massive overhaul, it will be alot more complex on the end. Problem is that i didn't found way how to make a multiple target destroyed trigger (not sure if it's possible at all in CMANO). Scoring will also be fixed.

You should be able to do this quite easily as long as the logic is "A is destroyed OR B is destroyed" etc., as events are executed when at least one of the triggers fires. If your logic is AND then it will be more difficult.

Indeed, that is my problem, since mission concludes when ALL (AND) are destroyed. Not sure how to do this, i have few ideas how to work this around, but they seem questionable at least.

Scenario has been vastly redone. It looks like more proper tactical/strategic task now.

Introduction:

As STAVKA informed us, large offensive is prepared to secure the western territory of Czechoslovakia. Our air force will play a crucial role in the destruction of railway infrastructure. This is a preliminary measure to prevent possible allied reinforcements from the west.

Mission:

Destroy Svojsin and Plana railway station to cut off the railway track further to Cheb and german Schirnding. On railway track from direction of Furth Im Wald destroy the the strategically located Stankov railway station. Southern railway tracks from Bayerisch Eisenstein have to be cut off at Klatovy, Nepomuk and Horazdovice railway stations to mitigate possible rerouting of transports via other tracks. Finally, destroy the Kaznejov railway bridge to prevent reinforcements from the north.

I tried to make it realistic as much as possible. Any comments are as always, welcome.

Anyways, i found quite nice workaround. I can use non-player's side score as some sort of counter. Destruction of various objects that i define triggers say score -1 for Allies. When it reaches for example -8 i can fire victory event via side points trigger, because i know that all objects were destroyed. [8D]

Comrade Scenario Author,

What this scenario really needs is the ability in CMANO to toggle friendly/hostile icon colours so that when playing Soviet/Russia the units can be red and when playing as the running-dogs of capitalist imperialism and reaction the icons can be the NATO standard blue.

That said, an interesting little scenario and although I personally have zero interest in rolling CMANO back into WW2, this pre-Cold War hypothetical situation is pretty imaginative and well done. Only suggestion from here might be to capitalize "German" in the briefings and perhaps clarify who the enemy actually is; Czech anti-communist political factions, the former Western Allies or somebody else entirely.

Thanks for the scenario!

Thanks for the comments guys. All of the mentioned issues were addressed. Uploaded fixed (probably final) version.

I'm not all that much interested in this era either, but i just gave it a shot to see how it turns out. This is probably oldest setting for a CMANO scenario that has been released yet.
