Whilst trying to see if aircraft would upgrade (since they get replaced, see another post I made) I did the following:
Disbanded a whole pile of reinforcement SBD groups in Noumea into one, it had about 168 active planes in it. This group then went to Luganville (step one of getting it out of range of Noumea).
Next turn, as expected, it wound up with 16 flying planes and the rest as reserve
So I flew those 16 over to Lunga (step two of getting them out of range) but it left all the ones in reserve behind (doh!).
However, over the next turn or two the planes in luganville upgraded to the SB2C helldiver, well, that is, 12 of the planes upgraded and the rest vanished...
Seems like the pilots hung around though (theres, oh, 105 of them).
This obviously doesn't seem right
