Distant Worlds is a vast, pausable real-time, 4X space strategy game which models a "living galaxy" with incredible options for replayability and customizability. Hi everyone,

After several years (!) of deliberating over whether this game was going to be worth the money, I've now purchased DW:U and am really looking forward to playing it.

Kind of annoying to have to go to work tomorrow! :-)

I'll let you know how I get on :-D

Best 4X games in a Loooong time, Something to finally replace Masters of Orion 2 for me as the Goto game. (although Sword of the Stars is also a great alternative, but they screwed up the 2nd one of the series)

I'm fairly new myself, having started playing two weeks ago. 30 hours in game now and loved every minute of it!

Welcome to the community! You've picked up one of the best(if not THE best) 4x games ever made. After you've played around with the game a bit, be sure to check out some of the mods around the forums. The mod in my sig compiles some of the best ones, and there are some pretty big projects ongoing that are going to turn this game into the most epic thing one could imagine when it comes to a 4x.

Thanks Unforeseen!

Only have a few hours to play each night, got through most of the tutorials now and am tempted to dive in to a fully-manual pre-warp game to get started (because I'm a man, not a neckbeard [:D] )

The only gripes I have so far are:

- game takes an age to load. Would putting game files on an SSD drive help?
- the in-game font makes my eyes bleed. It's far too narrow, or something. Forum search seems to suggest this is a common complaint with no perfect fix...yet!
