Scenario/campaign designer wish list
Just a few items that I've been mulling over (i'll put links into the old threads once I find them)
1. Increased control over the depot phase (max % of reinforcements, type and volume of reinforcements)
2. Add/change/remove units or runners on the fly
3. Ability to set AI’s first turn moves/special weapon/arty attacks
4. Hidden reinforcements
5. Intermittent EW
6. Increased control over weather
7. ability to add/remove units/formations over the length of a campaign
8. Adjusting VP of units

RE: Scenario/campaign designer wish list
1). I would like to see these abilities added too. Should be doable if we have the time.
2). You can remove subunits now, but having a more robust way to add new subunits or change them on the fly while looking at the unit would be great. Also having the ability to change equipment by date would be awesome too. We'll have to look at doing some of these for sure for 2.1.
3). Setting AI movements is not likely an option, but having some overarching influence is being discussed in house. We have also talked about having timed/scripted events, but we would really need to discuss it more to see how much work it would be to add in.
4). I take it you mean hidden from the player. Also random arrival has been mentioned too.
5). Planning on making this more variable by scripting it for a scenario.
6). Same as 5) with reach across a campaign too.
7). This may take some serious rework of the campaign system since it is scenario based with core forces. Would be cool to have.
8). We might be able to add some form of tag to a unit, like a VP marker, where bonus points could be given if the unit is killed or exits the map.
Good stuff. [8D]

4. Hidden reinforcements
Yes hidden from player, thinking that scenario briefing saying that "HQ will send you whatever reinforcements are available" but not show what or when is coming
5. Intermittent EW
From the little I know about EW (other than being on the receiving end) either side would not likely use ground stations for near constant jamming for 12hours straight (chances of counterbattery fire), but to target sectors of the front for limited periods using more mobile short range jammers or aircraft, NATO normally would use aircraft such as EC-130H Compass Call or similar heavy transport aircraft while on the soviet side TU16 Badgers, having the ability to set EW to medium or high at certain points in time would be valuable and more realistic I feel.
6. Increased control over weather
Where to start with this.....not looking for control over sunrise or sunset but just to avoid situations like rain in early august which from memory and recent travels to Germany rain at this time of year is rare. Now that I think about it more, having temperature controls would be nice if it could be linked to fatigue (always hated training exercises in sunny periods wearing 'noddy suits')

Save at any time during scenario creation. (I mentioned this in the Mideast mod thread so a double post but seems more appropriate here.)

RE: Scenario/campaign designer wish list
Jack54, There has to be a minimum amount of info to save the scenario. To save you need:
1. Choose Player 1 nation, Player 2 nation and map.
2. Add 1 setup hex for both sides.
3. Add one VP marker.
4. Add some text for the scenario description.
5. Add one unit per side in setup hexes.
From there you can save. I would suggest making a Template file with those things in it and load that to start with. From there you can change things out. If you change the map you will need to add back in the setup hexes and a VP marker. If you change nations, you will need to add one unit into a setup hex from the new country.
That should save you some time. I'll have to see what if anything in that list we can remove as a necessary item.

RE: Scenario/campaign designer wish list
I kinda figured that out on my own. Just kept putting in "qwerty" until let me save. I didn't ever try and save without setup and VP hexes and some forces on each side, though.

I learned by trial and failure until I got it right. And knowing the steps now doesn't help because I still get forget to do a step or two before I save

Obstacles and minefields that are known to both sides at scenario start. These are obstacles that have been found prior to the time of the start of the scenario by previous recce activities. So, there might be a "Discovered" checkbox if you right click on one of these.

Jeff, I like that idea. Maybe do something similar with blown bridges too.

The ability to swap out equipment...
Now that these excellent scenarios are unlocked it would be nice to have an option to click on a unit and poof the M1's are now M-60's. nice for making 'what-if' scenarios.

Jo, we are looking at a couple different ways to make changing out units easier in 2.1.

RE: Scenario/campaign designer wish list
Hello,
I think that the swapping/changing equipment would make the game more replayable. The older types like m113, t55, m60 are les lethal than the current generation of tank/apc/ifv. So you have a whole new way of play.
This is the only thing I really miss in the scenario editor.
But a seperate tool in which you can replace a certain type of unit to another would already be a big help. Something like replace a M1 to M60 and do this for all the M1 in this scenario.
Regards
Hapshott
