Turn 2.
The German attackers discover some Soviet recon - then, a real prize! Soviet engineer platoon. One squad in the open.

Gott in Himmel!

Soviet 50mm mortars - very troublesome. Soviet engineers confirmed. Now a reinforced bunker that should be a *real* challenge. 76mm AT gun foolishly fires at a recon unit.

M4's use of the bunker and AT gun position is very creative and should add a bit of fun to the battle.

The battle at night in the rain also adds to the feel of this.

Any unit that is seen and/or fired upon is designated "recon".

Stubborn Soviet engineer units in those large stone buildings are going to be tough.

The 76mm AT gun has gone to the great turnip factory in the sky.

Still wondering about how to approach the troublesome concrete bunker.

An attractive target of Soviet infantry presented itself. Rounds are in the air.

A partisan group has died for Uncle Joe who has remained in the palace at Moscow. We take partisan activities very seriously. No prisoners will be taken.

I was remiss by not mentioning what a great job Marauder Mel did with the Red Barricades map. It is quite well done and one of the best places to exercise infantry tactics I have ever seen.

My fortified bldg(s) are not to be underestimated..

the map is starting to look like the real Stalingrad now..smoke and bodies and rubble are drop'n like flys:eek:

Redleg holds most of the VHs for now..good..he might get cocky and rush me...

The Soviet commander is a crafty foe - I am very suspicious.
Try to advance and take what is given - be ready for anything.

A 50mm mortar, another AT gun, MG, and some more concrete reinforced buildings have been spotted.

For now, try to punish the infantry squad and scout for partisans.

This H2H mod is playing great!

The Germans are not committing, they are throwing their infantry in piece meal. His 81mm's should calm down a bit as I hit them Hvy Arty.

 The Russian platoon leader has been shot at the river bed, the motherland cannot permit such stupidity.

Redleg holds the major factories....for now

Things are starting to heat up my friend:mad:

Whoa! 152mm barrage. Bad news, indeed. T34 with tank riders coming down the street. Wham, bam, no mas, hombre, no mas!
Oops! One dead T34, crew runs away, followed by the tank riders.
Bring 'em on!

Some assorted infantry exchanges. The concrete reinforced buildings remain. Engineers are a thorn.

It is getting very nasty is S'grad.

 my only tank...dead

152mm rain on more German rear area troops

The Center is getting ugly, but with all the smoke, rain and darkness it is very hard to see each other..close up and personal:mad:

The ill-fate'd rifle platoon on the river bank is all but dead now, and to add insult Redleg moves in some sort of infantry to take a pop shot as well:mad:

The Bottom (west edge) is heating up as well, I went to shoot a 12.7 at a MG42 and I run in the open!

The German 81mm's still punishing me:mad:

Heres the turn followed by some snap shots

The stormtroops have managed to destroy one of the massive concrete reinforced buildings. That was followed by unsuccessful assaults on another. Then a cunning plan goes awry as I move an assault gun up to fire - wham, bam, German Spam as the 76mm AT I hadn't seen treated my assault gun very rudely.

Along the riverbank, German infantry pursues the remnants of the Soviet platoon.

In the rear, a partisan group attacks under 152mm support fires. Very nasty back there and my rear echelon types are hurting.

The burden has shifted to Comrade Jessovinski now. He must not remain in a defensive stance. What will he do? I wonder?

Comrades of the Red Army! Gather around! We have been told that help is crossing the Volga almost hourly and we must punch a whole through the German lines to allow their counter attack! Our Fortified areas are under heavy attack, this must end NOW! Riflemen if you have no weapon, stay close to a comrade who does, when he is killed, pick up his weapon!

Now is the time Comrades...now we show the Germans how men fight!

Recon platoons to the line!

Comrade Tank Soldiers man your Tanks..

We will form a human wave over the Germans! Take no prisoners! Let not a single enemy of the Motherland live!

*my 50mm's are out of ammo I only have access to a few rounds of heavy artillery available, my men have been fighting for weeks without food or rest, I fear this my be our last charge, so be it, for Mother Russia!*

Colonel Jessovinski commander Factory District, Stalingrad~

*turn 7 all quite with only a few scattered shots*

*a Red Storm is Rising*

Soviet units seem to me moving forward. A pair of T34s is spotted. Too bad they are not where they can be attacked.

Cement blockhouses seem to be invulnerable. One withstands three blasts from the trusty flammenwerfers, a couple of infantry assaults and attack by an assault gun. Tough rascals. Another 76mm AT is attacked by infantry. Bring up the flammpanzers and assault engineers. Those bunkers must be taken.

Lots of scattered fighting. I wonder if any "Aux" units will be sighted?

The communique mentioned "crossing the river". Did that imply what I inferred: "Reinforcements are on the way"?

"Soldiers of the Reich. The factory area is within your reach. Steel yourselves for one more great effort. The eyes of Germany are watching."
